Hello to our friends in Canada!!
We received your letter and are very excited to be in touch with you. We decided it would be fun to do this blog so that all of you could add your responses as you have time and we will do the same. We will put up a picture of our school building here in the next week or so. We would love to see pictures of your school and town if possible as well.

ReplyDeleteI’m going to tell you about my 1st through 5th period classes. My mentor isn’t a period class so in the morning I come in and go straight to my mentor class. What we do in our mentor class is we watch Channel 1 News that class is only for about 20 to 25 minutes long. For my 1st period class I go to Language Arts. What we do in that class is we do a lot of writing skills and reading out loud in front of the class. My 1st through 5th period classes are usually only about 45 minutes long. My second period class is Math. In that class we do a lot of things out of the book and we do a lot of math worksheets on fractions, mixed numbers. and decimals. My third period class in Social Studies. In that class we are learning a lot about the explorers and we learn a lot about Canada. Fourth period class is Science. We learn a lot about biomes and habitats and a lot about endangered animals.And we have a distance learning lesson sometimes. What a distance learning lesson is is we use a webcam to talk with this guy named Dave and he does a lot of science experiments with us.Sometimes he comes to our classroom and does the experiment with us in person sometimes My 5th period class is Content Reading. In this class we do a lot of poetry and we do a lot of drawing cartoons and things. In Content Reading we usually do a lot of sharing of what we do in that class.
My name is Sam. In our school there are a ton of extra things you could do. There are sports, a show choir, band, and orchestra. Also there is a student council that you can potentially get on. There are buses that pick people after school. Some of the sports are football, track, basketball, and soccer. Although sixth-graders can’t play sports, there is a band that any student can join. These are some of the things we can do at Beatrice Middle School.
ReplyDeleteMy name is mariah I have had for 6 through 8th periods music, industrial tech , family consumer science , P.E.,and art. My favorite subject that i listed is art, art is really fun .Right now i am working on a bookmark i have to shade it in with colored pencil. So 8th period is art . My 6th period is P.E. we play fun games but we do pushups and situps and we either run or do relays every day.

ReplyDeleteHi my name is Shamryn and i'm gonna tell you about my town. I’m from Beatrice NE, it is a very mild town, we have a skating rink and 2 movie theaters and a small but cool water park. We have many restaurants and a big Wal-mart. Its kinda boring but it doesn't have a lot of crime and there is many friends to make, infact I have a lot of friends. I always have something to do on Fridays I go skating.

ReplyDeleteI’m going to tell you about the classes I have from mentor to 5th period. I have Mrs. Laflin form mentor. Somedays we play games and other days we watch Channel One. My 1st period class is Language. My classes are about 45 minutes long each. My 2nd period class is Math. I am normally good at Math. My 3rd period class is Social Studies. My 4th period class is Science. We have distance learning which is where we have Scientist come and teach us more about Science. 5th period is Content Reading. We learn a bunch about poems.

Hey I’m Jordan Brod and I’m going to tell you about my 6th-8th period classes at Beatrice Middle School. Some of the classes we can take are: Art, P.E., Industrial Tech, Computers, Family Consumer Science, and Music. The only class I haven’t had yet would be Family Consumer Science. In Family Consumer Science, we learn about how to babysit the right way, sew, and how to cook. In Industrial Tech, we make things out of wood like a Golf Tee Game, Picture Frames, Solar Powered Cars, A block of wood with our name engraved in it, and C02 Cars.
ReplyDeleteIn Art, we make a lot of different projects like: tiles with designs on it, bookmarks, flowers in 3D, and much more. In Computer class, we learn how to type correctly. In P.E., we run, do push-ups, sit-ups, and play games like dodge ball. We also have this thing called Presidential and National Fitness award. To make Presidential or National Fitness award, we have to test activities like: sit-ups, push-ups, shuttle run, and sit-and-reach, then we have to get a certain amount of those things. Those are the things that we do through 6th-8th period.
Hi my name is Zach White. In 6th grade there is no school sports. In 7th and 8th grade there is football, soccer, wrestling and basketball, and trap. Outside of school I play baseball for Lincoln Dodgers. There is 3 stages of Dodgers for my age group. There is the Black and thats for inexperienced people. Then there is the White and thats for people who need more experience. Then theres the team im on which is the Blue and thats for the really experienced people. My team has one tournament this year and our coach broke the trophy on accident. I am the best hitter on my team. Two years ago I got a championship ring at nationals for getting first. My team is one of the best teams for 12 and under in Nebraska. I also play football. I play for Beatrice Bombers and I had the most tackles in my division. My team wasn't very good last year but i was. I broke a kids ankle and I gave two people concussions in practice. In my games there were three people that actually made tackles and those people were Landon Carstens, Bladen Bayless, and I. In my free time my brother and I wrestle and i always beat him :). I love to be outdoors and go hunting and fishing. I haven't shot anything yet but i don't care I still love to go hunting. I like to fish because i like getting dirty and then when I catch something i clean or flay it if its big enough. I like to go visit the cemetery and visit my grandpa and my cousin Cayden who died in December on the 23rd:(. He died from a brain tumor but lets not go there.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Colton Blythe and we are offered to do sports at the Beatrice Middle School. We can do football, soccer, wrestling, basketball, and trap. Outside of school we can do different sports like the YMCA sports. They have all kinds of stuff like flag football, soccer, gymnastics, kickboxing classes, and basketball. They have a gym and a weight room, and they have a swimming pool that has a diving board but it is always closed. At the pool there they have a hot tub but you have to be 18 years old or older to go in it. You can do other stuff that doesn’t have to do with the YMCA. Beatrice Bombers is a football team there for 3rd grade-6th grade. They have a baseball season either YRI or the Lincoln Dodgers. My friend Zach White is on the LIncoln Dodgers but you have to practice in Lincoln. I played for the Beatrice Bombers and my team was very good. We went 4-2 and placed 3rd out of six teams. I was the best running back for my team. And the best running back for the Bombers. I scored 8 touchdowns and linebacker. I made I was a a lot of tackles.
ReplyDeleteHi my name is Chloe Craig and I will be telling you about are 6th to 8th Period classes. My sixth period class is Physical Education. In that class, Mr. Bruhn and Mrs. Hovendick are our instructors. One in a while we do Fitness Tests. Those are tests to see our fit we are. Kind of self explanatory. Anyway, the activities are: Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, Pull-Ups, Shuttle Running, and Sit and Reach tests. They are hard but the teachers always want us to stay in shape. My 8th Period class is Art. In that class, we make all different types of projects. A few of the projects we did were: Glazed Tiles, Metallic Paintings, Bookmarks, and Georgia O Keefe inspired flowers.
ReplyDeleteSome of the other classes offered are: Family Consumer Sciences (also known as FCS), Music, Industrial Technology, and Computers. Family Consumer Science you learn about babysitting, and cooking in the kitchen. You make fun things like playdough and cinnamon bubble rings. in Music, you get to sing and have different types of centers. Computers you type and learn the fingerings of the keyboard. and Industrial Technology. In that class, you learn about the Tech world. You also make projects like picture frames, golf tee games, and even get to carve things into wood.

My name is Alexa Baughman I live in the town of Beatrice Nebraska. Beatrice is a big town for Nebraska but otherwise it is not a big town. There are about 13,000 people that live in Beatrice. You can participate in a lot of activities here, like swimming, basketball, softball, baseball, wrestling soccer, and so much more. Beatrice also has a lot of stores Wall-Mart, Sun-mart, and the medicine shop are just a few. Beatrice has parks, stores of all kinds, and a YMCA!!!!! As you can see Beatrice is a small but happy town.

In mentor I have an awesome teacher his name is Mr. Bell, we sometimes play a game called paper wad golf in that game we have a paper crumpled up and we try to throw it into a trash can, we also watch Channel One News it is a news show that talks about what is happening around the world, politics, and some things that could change the United States. In first period I have science our teacher’s name is Mrs. Wallinger we learn about mass, density, weight, types of vores, biomes, and ecosystems. In 2nd period I have Mr. Bell for Language Arts we have read the book called Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, we also learn about punctuation, idioms, similes, metaphors, and then we do a writing assessment called D.O.L. Then in 3rd period I have Social Studies with Mr. Campbell we have learned about Canada’s provinces, and Canada’s landforms and lakes and rivers. Then in 4th period I have math with Mrs. Laflin we learn about subtracting decimals and adding decimals, prime numbers and composite numbers. Then in 5th period content reading with Mr. Campbell

ReplyDeleteHello my name is Dylan Buss and I’m going to tell you about my mentor through 5th period. In mentor if I don't have my homework done which I usually do I do that but most of the time I talk to my friends. One of my friends is a girl and on wednesday and sometimes on friday we get to play games and me and my friend play a game were one person stands across the room and the other one has a little toppy eraser and you try to hit that person with it. Me and my friends like to compete on what pages we are on because we like to read Harry Potter books. When mentor is over I go to first period which is Language Arts. Our teacher Mr.Bell at the beginning of the year made us read a book called Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. I really liked the book and read the rest of the series and they were really good. Next period is Math which I’m not the best at. Our teacher Mrs.Laflin is very nice.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Cheyenne I live in the town of Beatrice, Nebraska. It is a medium sized town of about 13,000 people. For entertainment there is a water park, movie theater, 3 or 4 parks, a roller skating rink, and a skateboarding park. We have many restaurants in Beatrice. There is a Runza, Playa Azul, Riskey's, Super China Buffet, Taco John’s, Subway, McDonald's, Arby’s, and there is still a lot more restaurants. You can participate in many activities in Beatrice. For instance there is softball, baseball, basketball, track, volleyball, swimming, and tennis. Beatrice has a Wal-mart and a YMCA.

We have sports,art, a youth center,and many more but what I get to do Is FCS ( family consumer science) we get to cook real food, make projects, and create recipes for us to cook. I am very happy with what opportunities we have here at Beatrice Middle School. During mentor period on friday we get to play games. All in all our opportunities are awesome.

In Beatrice there is a waterpark, , a couple of YMCA, a middle school,a high school,a bunch of elementary schools, a movie theater, a bunch of parks to play at, a skateboard psoftball and baseball fields, and a roller skating rink. Beatrice is a small a city with a lot of houses.Also, Beatrice is a fun city to be around.In Beatrice you have a lot of oppertunities to play sports and have fun with your friends. At the YMCA you can go swimming, play volleyball,basketball,tennis,wrestling. At the high school you can watch as music program,and go to a two day science camp. There is also a new football field and a track field. The football field was just built over the summer. Elementary schools and the middle school have track meets in the spring which are really fun to be at.
